Manitoba Morgan Horse Club Hosts the 2025 CMHA Convention

The Manitoba Morgan Horse Club (MMHC), together with the CMHA Manitoba Zone, was proud to host the 2025 Canadian Morgan Horse Association Annual Convention and AGM in Winnipeg at the Victoria Inn Hotel & Convention Centre.

The weekend brought Morgan horse enthusiasts together from across Canada for education, fellowship, celebration, and, of course, a shared passion for the Morgan horse.

Friday – Board Meeting & An Evening with Morgans

The convention began on Friday, April 11, with the CMHA Board of Directors meeting.

That evening, attendees travelled to Roycan Country Haven in Portage la Prairie for a relaxing Morgan Horse Evening hosted by Candice Kontzie.

Candice opened the evening with a brief history of the Morgan horse in Manitoba and the establishment of the Manitoba Morgan Horse Club. With several of her beautiful Morgan horses assisting as models, she then provided a demonstration of CranioSacral Therapy.

The evening concluded with a tour of the Morgan horse barn, refreshments, and an opportunity for attendees to visit and reconnect.

Saturday – Convention & Educational Sessions

MMHC President Dianne Brown welcomed CMHA members and guests to the convention, with Dorothy Wright serving as Master of Ceremonies.

Saturday's program featured four informative presentations:

Charlotte Johnson – Equine Massage Therapist
The Ground Work of Body Work – An Inside Look at MagnaWave Therapy for Your Horse

Kathy Asserio – Symatree Farms
Hoofbeats and Heartbeats: Species Thriving as Equals

Jessica Eggers – JE Dressage
Balance Begins on the Ground

Sarah-Michelle Senécal, O.T. – Stable Connections
The CORE Relationship Between Horses and Humans

Convention attendees also had an opportunity to shop with three invited vendors: Velocity Jewelry, Fallen Oak Creations featuring equestrian clothing, and Scott Robinson Creations featuring handcrafted wooden creations.

A silent auction added to the weekend's activities, with a wonderful selection of donated items available for bidding.

Thank You to Our Sponsors

The organizing committee extends its sincere appreciation to the many Morgan Horse Clubs, CMHA Zones, businesses, organizations, and individuals who contributed financial support, in-kind donations, participant gifts, and silent auction items.

Special thanks to Greenhawk, which donated the participant gift bags, along with Pure Anada Inc., Mad Barn Canada, and Manitoba Horse Council for contributing items for the bags.  Silent auction donations were generously provided by Merck Canada, Greenhawk, Pembina Co-op Agro, Apple Saddlery, Peavey Mart, Pleasant Ridge, Velocity Jewelry, and numerous CMHA members, Zones, and Clubs.

We also extend our appreciation to New Rosedale Feedmill and the Manitoba Horse Council for their support of the convention.

A special thank-you goes to the Victoria Inn Hotel & Convention Centre – Winnipeg and Inland AV for their hospitality, audio-visual expertise, equipment, and generous support of our organization.

Celebrating the Morgan Family

The convention concluded Saturday evening with a banquet and guest speaker Dr. Mylia Richards, DVM.

Dr. Richards spoke about the Morgan world as a “family” and shared how Morgan horses have influenced her life from childhood through adulthood. Her presentation highlighted her two heart horses, Pinehaven Lynette and UC Merlin, and reflected on her journey from a 10-year-old Pony Club member to a youth and adult competitor at events in Canada and Oklahoma, a farm business owner with her husband, a professional veterinarian, and a lifelong caretaker of animals.

The evening concluded with the presentation of the national CMHA Awards.

A special highlight for the Manitoba Zone was welcoming youth member Kaisley Hrabarchuk, along with her parents Carmilla and Michael, to their first CMHA Convention and Awards Banquet. Kaisley, Manitoba's youngest CMHA member, and her mother Carmilla were recognized as recipients of numerous CMHA awards.
